As you might have heard, our daughter’s born. Fenne is her name. I suppose you understand painting hasn’t been the first thing on my mind lately. And now I’m ready to pick up my brushes again, I can’t seem to think of anything to paint. I think the baby’s eating up my inspiration. So I asked my son (2,5 years old) for a little help with this one. Ideas for new paintings are welcome. And sorry for the long silence.

Oh, have I told you my wife is pregnant? Yes, she is. It’s gonna be our second child. Number 1, Jitse (in case you’re wondering: that’s a boy name), says he wants a sister. He’s two years old. Of course he doesn’t have a clue if he’s going to get a little brother or a sister. We, on the other hand, do know :)

Unfortunately, my wife is allergic to rabbits. But that wasn’t the case a few years ago. Back then, she wanted a dog or a cat. I didn’t think that was a good idea because she always started sneezing when cats or dogs were around. So she wanted a rabbit. She didn’t have an allergic reaction to rabbits, so enter Hobbes. One year later, my wife’s allergic to rabbits too :(

His name is Hobbes. But he wasn’t born prematurly on April 5th 1588. He’s not known for his work on political philosophy. He wasn’t the first to translate Thucydides’ History of the Peloponnesian War from Greek into English. Nor did he write a book called Leviathan. At least not that I know of. He’s just my rabbit.

But I do have a rabbit. A black one. Bought it about 3 years ago. Some kind of dwarf rabbit, although it’s gotten a bit big for a dwarf rabbit. I wanted to buy a Flemish Giant back then, but my wife was (and still is) scared of them fluffy monsters :)

Auction Art #2 is sold. Time to review the concept again. This time I add Twitter bidding. Which means you can place bids via Twitter. What makes this interesting for you is that you get a 5% reduction if you win the auction with that bid.

How do you place a bid via Twitter? Simple: send a twit to @auctionart, and compose your twit like this: “@auctionart I bid (amount) euro”

You’ll need to confirm your bid via e-mail (sorry about that, but experience has learned some people sometimes don’t know what they’re twittering). Actually, I don’t have a dog. I’ve lied to you. I admit it. But my parents did. Let me tell you a sad story about that dog. One hot summer day, our dog decided to go and lie under our car. A cool spot, out of the sun. Then my father, who didn’t knew the dog lied under the car, stepped into the car and drove off. Dog dead. Not a pleasant day.

Ok, the first Auction Art painting has been sold. Time to review the concept and make some changes. This is what I’ve changed:

- Minimum bid. From now on the bidding price under the painting will be the minimum bidding price. So you can bid higher than that price if you want. But only if you really really want :)

- 5 becomes 3. Five days till the end of the auction was a bit long. Let’s reduce that to three.

- Bidding history. Because people are suspicious beings.

That’s it for now. I also changed/added the above three items on the About page. New painting will appear online tomorrow.

Today I painted my dog. Don’t worry, Michel, I painted a portrait of my dog, I didn’t actually put paint on my dog. Although, maybe that’s a nice idea. Cover the dog with paint, and let him run and jump and play on a big canvas. Dog art. Woof woof. Mmm. What do you think, Michel?
